Parent and Family Engagement Plan 

2026-2027

 

The faculty, staff and parents of Fayetteville School believe that it is a team effort to prepare children to become lifelong learners and contributing members of a changing society. 

 

FHS holds an annual meeting for all parents grades PreK-12.  Topics discussed at the annual meeting include:

  • Title I Participation, Services, Parent Rights
  • Continuous Improvement Plan (CIP)
  • Parental and Family Engagement Plan
  • School-Parent Compacts
  • Parent Surveys
  • Parent Workshops
  • Curriculum, Programs and Assessments currently in place
  • Data results 
  • Online Resources

 

Methods for notifying parents of meetings and workshops for 2021-2022 school year include: (1) notices sent home with students, (2) reminders on monthly school-wide calendars, (3) posted on the school website/Facebook/Twitter account, (4) email notifications, (5) phone messages through Blackboard Mass Notification (6) Elementary Notebooks. To assist in providing an opportunity for all parents to attend meetings, meetings will be conducted during the school day as well as during evening hours (flexible scheduling).  

 

Fayetteville School believes in parent support and involvement of all aspects of the Title I program.   The Parent Engagement committee participates in the development of the CIP, School-Parent Compact, Parent and Family Engagement Plan, and any other area that Title I represents in order to provide the best education for all students.  All parents are given surveys at the end of the school year seeking input on activities, training, and materials that the school should offer parents the following school year.  Annually the school’s Continuous Improvement Plan, School-Parent Compact and the Parent and Family Engagement Plan are reviewed and evaluated.  

 

At the Title I Annual Meeting, information will be provided to parents about the Title I program, curriculum, and academic assessments used.  Parents will be informed of school-wide subjects, parent-teacher conferences, ways to have a successful school year, and how they can be involved daily.  Opportunities will be provided for parents to visit classrooms and meet with teachers.  Parents have the right to submit concerns in writing about the plans and programs currently in place at Fayetteville.  We value our parents' input, concerns, and involvement in the process of educating their child.

 

Our School-Parent-Student Compact was developed through the efforts of parents and teachers.  The compact represents a commitment between the school and home ensuring that each child is successful in school.  The compact will be discussed and signed by the school principal, teacher, parent, and student.  Elementary teachers will maintain a copy of the compact and hold virtual parent-teacher conferences annually.  During these conferences, the compact will be discussed as it relates to the individual child’s achievement.  A copy of all secondary compacts will be on file in Mrs. Bullen’s Office.

 

Through analysis of Parent Surveys, needs of parents will be assessed and workshops developed to meet parents’ needs using available resources.  Parents will be informed throughout the school year using the following methods:  report cards, school emails, Elementary Notebook, school website/Facebook/Twitter accounts, phone messages through SchoolCast, and conferences.  Teacher-generated Workshops will be provided to train and inform parents about specific skills, provide materials to assist parents in working with their children at home, and provide information on test-taking skills, strategies, and skills.

 

Parents will be encouraged to visit their child’s classroom. Parents are informed of their child’s progress through PowerSchool online grade access, report cards, mid-nine week reports, and Elementary Notebooks.  State test results are provided for all standardized assessments including ACAP Summative Assessment, PreACT Assessment, ACT plus Writing, ACT WorkKeys, Alabama Alternative Assessment, and ACCESS.  Parents are also informed of local assessments on report cards.  Fayetteville School, to the extent practicable, provides opportunities for the participation of parents with limited English proficiency and parents with disabilities.  Every effort is made to accommodate all parents.

Fayetteville School, and the parents of the students participating in activities, services, and programs funded by Title I, Part A of Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015 (ESSA)(participating children), agree that this compact outlines how the parents, the entire school staff, and the students will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement and the means by which the school and parents will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve the State’s high standards. This school-parent compact is in effect during the school year 2026-2027.

School's Responsibilities

Fayetteville will:

  • Provide high-quality curriculum and instruction, including blended learning with technology, hands-on experiences, high-level tasks, and activities for students that encourage positive engagement in an effort to effectively meet the diverse needs of all students in a safe, supportive learning environment that enables students to meet state academic standards. 
  • Provide adequate homework assignments that reinforce classroom instruction.
  • Facilitate positive communication and provide frequent reports about progress and behavior to parents (i.e. Report Cards, Progress Reports, Elementary Notebooks, Emails, Phone Calls).
  • Schedule Parent-Teacher Conferences as needed and/or requested by teacher or parent (time agreeable to teacher and parent) using the compact as it relates to the individual child’s achievement. Parents may contact school staff by phone, email or written note. 
  • Encourage and provide parents opportunities to participate in their child’s class, and to observe classroom activities.
  • Provide parents with assistance in understanding academic achievement standards and assessments and how to monitor their child's progress through Annual Title I Meeting, parent workshops, and learning at home activities and materials.
  • Provide parents reasonable access to staff.
  • Provide the staff with appropriate professional development activities.          
  • Maintain highly qualified teachers.

Parent Responsibilities 

We, as parents or guardians, will support our children’s learning in the following ways:

  • Ensure regular attendance, punctuality, and avoid checkouts unless absolutely necessary in accordance with the Alabama State Truancy Law.
  • Provide school supplies for my child as needed.
  • Maintain a time and place for homework and ensure that it is completed. 
  • Support the school by reading all notices and other school related information promptly.
  • Work with school staff to ensure and establish an effective partnership that will foster my child’s learning and behavioral goals, including participating in Parent-Teacher conferences.

materiales que la escuela debería ofrecerles el año siguiente. Anualmente, se revisan y evalúan el Plan de Mejora Continua
de la escuela, el Pacto Escuela-Padres y el Plan de Participación de Padres y Familias .
En la Reunión Anual del Programa Título I, se brindará información a los padres sobre el programa, el currículo y las evaluaciones
académicas utilizadas. Se les informará sobre las materias escolares, las reuniones de padres y maestros, las estrategias para un año
escolar exitoso y cómo pueden participar activamente. Se ofrecerán oportunidades para que los padres visiten las aulas y se reúnan
con los maestros. Los padres tienen derecho a presentar sus inquietudes por escrito sobre los planes y programas vigentes en
Fayetteville. Valoramos la opinión, las inquietudes y la participación de los padres en el proceso educativo de sus hijos.
Nuestro Pacto Escuela-Padres-Estudiantes se desarrolló gracias a los esfuerzos de padres y maestros. El pacto representa un
compromiso entre la escuela y el hogar que garantiza que cada niño tenga éxito en la escuela. El pacto será discutido y firmado por el director
de la escuela, el maestro, el padre y el estudiante. Los maestros de primaria conservarán una copia del pacto y realizarán conferencias
virtuales de padres y maestros anualmente. Durante estas conferencias, se discutirá el pacto en relación con el rendimiento individual
del niño. Una copia de todos los pactos de secundaria estará archivada en la Sra.
Mediante el análisis de encuestas a padres, se evaluarán sus necesidades y se desarrollarán talleres para satisfacerlas utilizando los recursos

ofrecerán talleres impartidos por docentes para capacitar e informar a los padres sobre habilidades específicas, proporcionarles
materiales para ayudarlos a trabajar con sus hijos en casa y brindarles información sobre técnicas, estrategias y habilidades para la
realización de exámenes.
